This is a one day, four species, Catch, Photo and Release tournament on Narrow River in Narragansett and South Kingstown, Rhode Island.

Details:

  • Mandatory Captain’s Meeting the Friday evening before the tournament 6-7pm
  • Lines in at sunrise, out at 1pm on Saturday
  • Longest combined total wins with prizes for each of our target species caught
  • Target species are shad, bluefish, striped bass, and summer flounder (fluke)
  • Saturday afternoon/evening barbecue with food, T shirts and Captain’s bags
  • Prizes from national and local sponsors

On October 20, 2018 NRPA held a modified Kayak Fishing Challenge on Narrow River.

Kayak anglers came out to this unofficial event for fun and friendship.

Fisherman Thomas Houde says “Great time on the Narrow River for the Association’s first Kayak angling event. I got my first Shad ever and they put on some great acrobatic displays. I was also surprised with a small Fluke. Finished in 4th with some nice prizes and some new found friends. Fished with Norm, Christoper and Mike. Todd was keeping his spots secret. Thanks to the Mettatuxet Yacht Club for hosting the BBQ and awards. I’m looking forward to next year.”

Please join us for the 2019 Kayak Fishing Challenge on Narrow River in Fall 2019.

By engaging with local kayak fishermen and women, we hope to increase awareness of conservation efforts, pollution and boater safety. We aim to encourage appropriate and fun enjoyment of Narrow River.
